Erik ten Hag is planning to make a big profit this summer by selling some familiar faces at Manchester United to make way for new signings that fit his system. He is reportedly willing to transfer list five players including Anthony Martial, who is a favorite of Joel Glazer. The Manchester United boss wants to free up funds to pursue his priority targets, which include Harry Kane. Ten Hag is hoping to repeat last year’s success in the transfer market, where United invested heavily but only gained a minimal profit from sales. This time around, he is ready to let go of some big names to create more financial room to acquire his desired players.
According to reports, Ten Hag is ready to part with Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, and Eric Bailly, in addition to Martial. Jadon Sancho is also rumored to be in danger of being sold, as Ten Hag is said to be frustrated with his lack of progress since joining the club. Meanwhile, Dean Henderson is another player reportedly up for sale, and Tottenham may be interested in trading him for Kane.
Glazer has previously blocked the sale of Martial, but the co-owner is now considering selling him if Ten Hag receives an acceptable bid. Ten Hag is keen on signing a center-forward this summer, with Harry Kane being his top priority. United is also considering Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos as potential targets.
Ten Hag stressed the importance of Champions League qualification in his post-match press conference after United lost to Newcastle. He stated that being in the top four of the Premier League or winning the Europa League is crucial to attract top players to the club.
“As we have seen in the past, even when we are not in the Champions League, we are still an attractive club to players. However, we must qualify for the competition if we want to be truly competitive,” Ten Hag said.
